Oyu Tolgoi Safety & Training Cooperation

Subutai Mining Service's first and largest partnership began with Oyu Tolgoi LLC in 2013. It built the company's HSE capability and laid the foundation for bringing an internationally aligned training system to Mongolia.

Goal

To equip thousands of workers on a world-class mining project with safety knowledge and skills and to instill a culture of incident prevention.

Continuous from 2013 to the present, expanding in step with the mine's growth and phases.

Approach

Training aligned with Mongolian law, MNS standards and Rio Tinto procedures is delivered in Mongolian and English, combining classroom and on-site sessions with scenario exercises and assessment.

Results

• More than 10,000 workers are trained in safety every year.
• A standardized bilingual training system is in place.
• A strong safety culture and prevention habits have taken root.
